Coming from Nagasaki this is a full travel day. Aim for an early Kamome so you arrive before dark, and eat before you leave Saga or Hakata. Kurokawa has five restaurants and they keep country hours.

Nothing runs directly from Nagasaki. Every version of this trip goes via Saga or Hakata, then onto the Fukuoka highway bus.
Budget five to six hours door to door, and treat it as a travel day rather than a half day.
The Fukuoka leg is reservation-only and costs ¥4,000 (about US$27) from Tenjin or Hakata. Book that seat before you leave Nagasaki.
Aim for a morning start. Arriving after the last connection means an unplanned night in Fukuoka.
If the schedule is tight, an overnight in Fukuoka and a morning bus is more reliable than chaining connections in one day.
